Overview

4 Day Nyiragongo Volcano Trek is so interesting, when the guests arrive in Goma town, hike up the mountain and spend a night up at the volcano. The next day they will descend and conclude the safaris.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda (Pick up at the airport)

Airport pickup and transfer to your Hotel in Kigali. Overnight in Kigali

Day 2: Kigali – Rubavu

After your breakfast, you can take an optional tour of Kigali city, to visit the sites including the Kimironko market and the Genocide memorials, and the surrounding areas, afterwards depart to Rubavu town, waterfront town located on the shores of Lake Kivu. It is located only an hour away from Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Rubavu - Virunga National Park

Visitors on this hiking safari are meant to cross the border by at least 7:00 am. In the same hiking morning, they will check in with Virunga National Park offices for tourism by at least 8:00 am. The Virunga Tourism office is located at the border post building- Rubavu, opposite to the passport control office. At the Virunga tourism offices, the hikers/trekkers will be provided with a hiking permit which they must present at the mountain before the start of the trek.

When the guests are done with the process at the Virunga Tourism offices, they are transferred to the Kibati Patrol post where all the Virunga hikes start. The trek starts at around 10:00 am and most of the trekkers arrive at the top (Volcano) at around 5:00 pm. At the top of Virunga, the trekkers spend a night as they enjoy the view of the red hot Lava.

Day 4: Virunga National Park- Rubavu- Kigali

After this adventure, all trekkers start to descend from the mountain to Kibati patrol post at around 6:00 am to conclude their Nyiragongo Volcano trek. On arrival at the bottom of the mountain, you will be taken back to Goma, cross the border to continue your leisure drive to Kigali and airport transfer depending on your scheduled flight.
